Radiology Director Job Overview
Ensures appropriate radiology clinical standards in compliance with established policies/procedures, applicable laws, and regulatory requirements. Regulatory requirements include:
Assures high levels of patient satisfaction and serves as a role model for excellent service. Ensures that all staff members maintain behaviors and standards that create positive interactions between patients and staff. Appropriately resolve patient complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner.
Ensure compliance with all policies or guidelines such that all work meets physician and administrative expectations. Participates with continuous improvement processes to ensure that the department performs at an optimal level. Identifies problems with processes and works proactively to develop and implement solutions.
Collaborates effectively with clinical and administrative leadership, physicians, nurses and a wide variety of other staff to ensure that service expectations and hospital goals are met. Identifies strategies to improve resource utilization, service delivery, work flow, etc. as necessary to meet established expectations. Works with the Directors and Administrators at other VHS facilities to promote and implement optimized service and safety standards. Develop and maintain a checklist identifying, recording, and reporting requirements for each service line.
Human Resource Management
Act as a role model and coach for radiology staff to foster a positive work environment. Delegate responsibilities and projects to individuals recognized for their abilities and competency. Ensure staff is compliant and competent with departmental policies and procedures.
Consistently provides effective leadership to the department, assuming responsibility for decisions made, resolving issues through sound decision making, and ensuring timely action and follow through on projects and initiatives. Demonstrates strategic and critical thinking; makes optimal use of resources; creates a safe work environment; allocates and prioritizes work monitoring performance standards for continuous performance improvement.
